Her childhood was a turbulent one. As a young girl her mother fled to protect her from an abusive family. She came back into Pickler's world in 1995 when she took custody of her. This did not go well. Pickler returned to her grandparents at 12 years old. They helped them through adulthood. Pickler had to take care of her siblings without her parents. Pickler stated that time was limited and she learned how to take care of the family members from a young age. Pickler took part in cheerleading teams at both her high school and middle school.
